Newspaper Response Cover Letter

I've had many people email me and ask how to write the ultimate response to a newspaper ad. This process is actually quite easy.

Setup

Like all cover letters, be sure to have your address in the upper left corner. Then have the recipients address below this.

Salutation

Because you do not know the recipient's name, I recommend using "Dear Sir/Madam," as the salutation

Body

For the main body, keep it simple. Always have the first sentence state where (in what newspaper) you saw the ad. Then simply state that your resume is attached or enclosed.

That's it! For the remainder of the cover letter, just write it as you would write any other cover letter. Feel free to look at some of my other writings to see other examples of what a cover letter should look like. You may also make reference to the cover letter below.

Given my related experience and excellent letters of referral (also attached), I would appreciate your consideration for this job opening. My skills are an ideal match for this position.

I appreciate your taking the time to review my résumé and letters of referral. Again, thank you for your consideration and I look forward to hearing back from you.

Sincerely,
